What a fantastic meeting the British Drivers one was. Wall to wall action and it all flowed, the fence took an early battering but survived later in the meeting. At least when the fence needs mending it shows there has been action, I have to say FWS and his team do a great job cheers

The atmosphere in the bar was electric during the final and the BBC crew where there to see and hear it all

I did think that it was going to be another wet meeting but never fail the sun shone, well a bit, this early rain did keep the dust down

A 10/10 meeting

WELL DONE STEVE and all your staff, stand up and take a bow you deserve it.

Seconded !
I thought it was a real good day on many levels. The track looked superb. The presentation was slick with a good turn around of races; even with the early fence damage (- well done to the track staff -) the meeting was pulled back with the cars coming out for the Final bang on time if I remember correct. I personally thought it was right to stick with 8 heats; the recognised British format. Belle Vue can cope with a couple or so less cars in heats with no detriment to the racing. The racing was good building up to a cracking Final worthy of the British title.
I thought the Family Ticket was good value with a seperate queue for ticket holders. £1 extra to reserve a place in the stand was well worth it. No issues bringing some sandwiches in for lunch; we bought burgers and chips from the back of the Grandstand later on in the day - so a fair compromise there. The other half enjoys Belle Vue just from the point of view of being able to sit inside and in comfort.
A good idea to involve Kidz Club in the programme design. As usual the Startrax programme was a good read, particularly the Promoters Piece and Wolfysmith's page. (How to capitalise on the BBC programme was thought provoking and worthy of a thread on its own - agreed with all the points made.)
The start time of 2.00 pm works for us. We could get away at a reasonable time so that the young uns are sorted for bed at a reasonable time for school the next day. (Can this time become a regular Sunday start time?)
Well done and thanks to the Startrax Team.

Ditto all of the above (and thanks for the kind comments Andy (cheques in the post)). I did think we might be in for a long afternoon following the first race, but rest assured that was the only hiccup and the meeting flowed.

I thought the heats were little lopse sided in terms of numbers but given the pace of the meeting and that drivers who were scheduled to race one heat might not have repaired their cars in time, it was right to plough on regardless rather than stare at an empty track for 20 minutes just to have two or three more cars on track.

The heats did provide some good action with a roll over and a certain Mr J Gibson esq stirring things up (we should have a 'biggest stirrer' award like they do in NZ). Your never going to get a fencefest in the heats for a British Champs - the name of the game is to come through the heats as safely as possible for the Final - which had plenty to shout about (I was balling my head off when young Tom 'Hit Man' Harris put the big one in on SSJ). My DotD would go to 502 Ricky Wilson who picked up a 2nd and 4th in two of is heats and was on the 4th row for the big one - ok, slightly biaised but there you go!

The crowd did look a tad sparse to me? Perhaps some of those who attend BV locally for 'entertainment' rather than 'racing' were put off by the slight gate increase? However, I hope those who did attend for the first time were impressed enough to return on 1/11/09

I'll second Andy's comments about the start time, can you pull the Nat Series Finale forward Steve? Nowt on the night before for the Wuns but whether the Tooz boys will like it???

Thanks as well to anyone who filled in a questionnaire
