| well ive been going to the stock cars man and boy and i can honestly say ive loved it all apart from one thing, the introduction of silencers. sigh i miss the sound of the big block chevys as the drivers floor the pedal off the rolling lap, sigh. i miss the roar of each lap as the fight goes on barely able to hear the air horns as the fans cheer on their winning driver, sigh. i miss the crackle and flames as the excess petrol burns off as the drivers back off at the end of the straights, sigh. and before any one starts to quote health and safety and noise pollution i consider the sound from their mouths to be noise pollution, sigh. anyone who agree with me please say aye. SIGH. hopefully the heritage cars will be allowed to keep their straight pipes as to be truelly authentic, sigh. |

| I totally agree, but depressingly, we live in a different age now and the sport has had to go down the route of curbing noise etc in order to simply survive in today's world. _________________ I would never join a club that would have me as a member

| I dont remember "pre silencers" in F1 but I think that this last year there has been a small reduction in noise from the F1's I remember Ashley Boam's Sprint car practising at Buxton a couple of years back, that had open headers and it was amazing to hear |

| im so glad im not the only one out there who prefers to go home from a nights racing with partial deafness and ringing of the ears the day after. i understand the need for every thing to be pc and within limits but i will add that moto x bikes still retian loud pipes as do dragsters and moto gp bikes, again the venues i suppose bring in the restrictions. personally i would think it a great selling point for a house next to belle view manchester that unfortunately every so often you will have to put up with the thunder of 454 big blocks........ sold i will take it. couldnt buxton be excused noise restrictions as its so out in the sticks as not to offend the pc group??????? heres to watching the old dvds to help relive a past magic. not to take any thing away from the current drivers at all im still totally hooked to watching and still love it to this day. my son is a total wainman junior fan since the kidz club visits. and we will be at belle view for the fire work extravaganza and hopefully sheffield on the 25th. and hopefully stoke will be reinstated to as that is close enogh for me to travel to.... |

| I doubt in this day and age any track would be excused for the noise limits, I know that when I have made the trip from buxton raceway to belle vue to catch a meeting there, I have heard the distinct rumble of the F1s from the Denton A57/M60 roundabout!! And somebody I know can hear the speedway bikes from Denton too if the wind is right |

| Unlike other high profile motor sports, oval racing doesn't have either the political or financial muscle to fight the constraints local councils impose on the sport. Therefore, it's a case of self imposed restrictons or the possibility of more draconian restrictions (or worse) being forced upon it. Whilst Bucky might well be one of the few F1 tracks that is well away from residential areas, the cars have to race at other tracks and so, it wouldn't be pratical to keep fitting and unfitting silencers and the like, besides F1's only race Bucky a couple of times a season. _________________ I would never join a club that would have me as a member

| Agreed, but F1's represent the 'top' noise polluters in our sport in terms of the db ratings. _________________ I would never join a club that would have me as a member

| I think most folk upon hearing of noise issues in oval racing think of the F1's as a prime suspect, but in most cases I reckon it will be bangers at fault, many of them have no exhaust at all after the downpipe despite the rules stipulating "Wherever possible the original exhaust system must be retained with the last 600mm removed" [national bangers] and "Standard exhaust manifold and downpipe, but the middle and back box are free, but must be suitably silenced, to the satisfaction of the Steward" [bombers/rookiebangers] |
