The April 1st STEEL CITY CLASSIC
Is it a hoax,or is it real, only one way to find out…
…As the awesome ground shaking thunder of BriSCA Formula One Stock Car racing returns to South Yorkshire with one of the two pre-season EARLY BIRD WARM Ups! With an exciting and innovative format that will garner interest amongst both the drivers and race fans!
The revered OWLERTON race strip April 1st session breaks the mould with an excellent innovative fillip to kick start the season - if ever one was needed!
The Steel City Classic will feature 3/4 qualifying heats [dependant on car numbers] Grand Final & `TEN LITTLE INDIANS’ Finale!
Before the serious race for the 2007 Silver roof begins - the early season outings allow drivers a vital `warm up’ with an added incentive and edge…
…breaking with tradition, this meeting will see the grid formats reversed for BriSCA F1, WHITE TOPS will start at the back, then yellows, blues and REDS/SUPERSTARS will start at the front!
The RED TOP DRIVERS, the elite of BriSCA Stock Car Racing will however have to battle as they will have almost a lap handicap - but will see their points tally DOUBLE - which will be triple IF they hit the top 5, they will be rewarded with grade awards.
These top men, who usually have to fight their way from the back of the grid will be deserved of their reputations because the format just adds a 16 second, 300 metre handicap which will take some mettle at an average 70.mph with race traffic!
White tops will score 4 x normal points Yellows 3 x and blues double.
So just for once the Red tops may be looking in their mirror as the White top drivers pile on the pressure and when the reds score points - it will prove a real test of their skills as the battle to overcome a 16 second handicap before they get into the results!
The overall points scoring over the heats will then determine the drivers starting positions for the breath-taking STEEL CITY CLASSIC FINALE
The final race will be a classic `TEN LITTLE INDIANS’ where the last car on each lap will be black flagged - There will be a race suspension to halt the cars for the last three laps where the top cars will start single file for, hopefully a thrilling 3 lap final last and fast dash shoot - out!
The meeting will be start with a GRAND PARADE for both BriSCA race divisions allowing race fans the opportunity to identify with their heroes – a unique feature of Oval racing, and an ideal photo opportunity!
