Elite League Stock Car Racing comes to Belle Vue this October!

Sunday 11th October sees BELLE VUE Greyhound STADIUM host the sports premier event, the 2009 Manson Insurance Brokers BriSCA Formula One Stock Car Racing BRITISH DRIVES CHAMPIONSHIP.

These are 7 litre, 600 brake horsepower machines and the ground quite literally shakes!
But this is no Banger Racing, with purpose built machines costing up to £30,000 to prepare.

High speed and a combination of too many cars on too small a track makes Formula One Stock Car Racing one of the most spectacular and pulsating sports on the planet. With purposeful bumpers fitted back and front, that are designed to be used by moving opponents forcibly and tactically with a 70 mph nudge, this is not for the feint hearted, contact is not only allowed but actively encouraged! There is nothing on the Planet that provides such an explosive combination!

The British Drivers Championship is a unique format and carries massive prestige, drivers have to battle through eight qualification heats to make the final sudden death Championship grid of 30 cars - who race at speeds of up to 70 mph - full contact, around an oval, 285 metres in length and perhaps 18 metres wide circumnavigated by a steel rope and girder outer fence- just catch out the unwary! It adds up to Gladiators on Wheels!!

Local Superstar Andrew Smith from Rochdale, reigning World Champion and former World Champion brother Stuart defend local honours with Stuart fighting to retain the title on home ground. However competition is fierce with the sports elite from the UK in competition.

Up coming racer, Greater Manchesters’ Scott Davids’ from Swinton will be looking to prove himself against the top drivers.

The event is one of premier events in the sport and Sunday’s event promises awesome family entertainment as a combination of man, sheer brute horsepower, high speed and full contact come together on one short oval - And it’s all happening in Manchester on Sunday 11th October at 2.pm

STOCK CAR ACES IN CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWDOWN!

Manchester's BELLE VUE Stadium plays host to one of the most prestigious Stock Car Racing events in the City since the Hyde Road venue opened to the sport in 1999 and has become one of the cities most popular attended sporting attractions outside football.

The Kirkmanshulme Lane Greyhound Stadium venue has been allocated the elite Formula 1 Stock Car Racing British Drivers Championship this coming Sunday [11th October ] at 2.pm which grids the Nations' top 60 in pursuit of a £10,000 prize purse and the coveted title of British Champion.

Heading the entry lists and certainly the ones to beat are Rochdales' Smith brothers Andrew and Stuart. Andrew has previously won the title and is the reigning World Champion having convincingly lifted the title in consecutive years at Ipswich in 2008 and Kings Lynn in 2009 making him the obvious man to beat.
Younger brother Stuart, also a former World Champion, is the reigning British Champion and firmly has regaining the crown on Sunday's agenda keeping both the sports premier titles firmly in the North West.

However they face fierce competition. East Lancashire driver John Lund, himself a former holder of all the sports key titles has returned to peak form in recent weeks after a quiet, by his standards, 2009 season and he enjoys good Belle Vue form.
Manchesters' rising star Scott David's will also be in on the hunt but with 60 of the Nation's best to compete against, a victory Sunday will have to be hard fought!

Formula One Stock Car Racing is the world's most brutal motorsport.
7 litre engines, 600 brakehorsepower combined with high speed makes it almost gladitorial to spectate and experience. Groundshaking power, too many cars on too small a track and full contact not only allowed but actively encouraged to tactically move the opposition makes this version of Formula One so intriguing!
Make no mistake, this is no `Banger Racing' BriSCA F1 is Europes' most popular stadium motorsport and with cars costing up to 35k to prepare, it is about man and machine versus up to 30 others dicing at High Speed around a short 300 metre oval with, often, spectacular consequences!
