PostSubject: BV 25th May, what happened to.......   Tue May 26, 2009 2:20 pm

A good meeting last night, heats quiet but the second half of the meeting was superb. An extremely well presented event and the F1 final was the best I've seen this year. Don't really understand some peoples racing rating on another site, oh well never mind!

But as in the title, what happen to

1 Lundy
2 Stu jnr
3 superbangers.

I guess the superbanger was due to a lack of driver interest? But Lundy and Stuart havn't raced all weekend. Now I fully appreciate that it's entirely their choice when/where they race but they did book in and it was a QR and NSR?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Presume Lundy was working, but was surprised he never went as was a wqr.
Heard Stu has lost some interest and couldn't be bothered (According to someone in the team) wanted a week off.
Super Bangers? That was a relief Laughing

Expect Lundy was busy on the farm. Decent weather does mean the opportunity to harvest the first silage of the year.

Steve has posted on Stoxnut's BV thread that young Mr Smith is struggling to balanc work and the demands of keeping two cars competitive and missed last night. Sounds like he's having a break to, hopefully, recharge the batteries and his enthusiasm for the sport.

yeah, I have read the various posts regarding Stuarts non attendance. Everyone needs a bit of a break from something they are passionate about now and again. I'm sure he'll be back.....racing is in his blood (literally!) afterall, and I would rather see a full guts and thunder Smith Jnr than the opposite any day. cheers

As for Lundy, he shows or he dosn't! thats the nature of his....hem hem... twilight years! Shocked

I was actually looking forward to seeing the Superbangers though, I've never seen them on the loose stuff. Seen them a few times at the edge, varying car numbers, I saw 18 of them a few seasons ago and they were superb, loads of contact. Seen with 5 cars though and the grass growing was more interesting! Always thought they would be great on shale though, never saw them when they raced Stoke.

The Super Bangers were both an extra and a trial however with meetings at Warton just before and the enxt at Buxton a Championship, numbers were in single figures so we mutually agreed dropping them.

With regard `no shows' at Belle Vue
225 Mark Clayton cancelled - he was silaging and missed KL [b]but was racing BV but hurt his back Sunday at work.
53 John Lund again, was hoping to do both, however as a farmer with the good weather and it set to change Monday night - had to work.
198 Nigel Whalley had a family issue that necessitated his cancellation
390 - already covered and young Stuart needs some expectancy pressure off him at the moment and needs encouragement.
308 Mr Malkin got engine damage at KL
Only others missing were 276 and 188 - there were a couple of extras, 257 and 47.

The Super Bangers are now just "Supers" at Warton, they dropped the "Bangers" bit quite a few years ago, and are now just "semi" contact unlimited rods.

They struggle to get a double figure entry most meetings at Warton, and are just a pale imitation of what they used to be when they really were just bangers that were ironed up a bit to last a whole season.

Dropping them from BV Monday was probably a good move.

So was it the Warton SB's planned for BV? I thought it was the Buxton version (Dave Cope, Joe Simpkin etc)? Or were they to run together? I thought they ran to different spec?

PostSubject: SUPER BANGERS   Thu May 28, 2009 9:06 pm

Cool HI!

Have always been surprised that "Super Bangers" haven't been a more popular formula. As they are very well armoured, I would have thought they would last a lot longer than the "normal" type of banger, therefore being more economical in the long run?

The last time I saw them at Buxton, they numbered less than 10 with little contact, consequently most of them were still running at the end of the meeting.

Perhaps it's the lack of contact damage that puts newcomers off (not as much of a spectacle?). I like the sound they make though!

Superbangers were Buxton ones, they dont race with the ones at Warton as they go in different directions plus other rules.
As many of the buxton superbanger drivers also do bombers, priority was as I understand it to bombers as it was the british championship that afternoon at buxton, plus caravan racing which also took another couple of drivers away from SB's

There were a few drivers still willing to turn out, but nobody wants to see racing with less than 10 cars in so it was a good decision made by those that can, to cancel them.

Well Done to Andy Walsh on his British Championship Win in Bombers too

Thanks, just the info I was looking for! I know the High Edge SB's have a rollercoaster ride of fortune, but had an impression that they were upwardly mobile at present?

Hope at the right time BV will be a great venue/platform for the guys! cheers

Would be nice to see the 1300 loons at the Vue. I was very impressed with my first encounter with this class at Scunny. I know Steve has mentioned getting them to Owlerton next season, would be good if they could also get to the Vue given that Bucky are now running 'em.

Wouldn't it be nice if all the promoters/tracks in a local region, e.g. the north of England, all got together and agreed on one set of rules for a formula, instead of each doing their own thing and having loads of formula with low driver counts?
